Engineers Day is celebrated on 15 September every year in India.

Engineers Day is celebrated across the country on the birth anniversary of engineering and technology legend Sir M Visvesvaraya.  Modern India was built by his hands.

M Visvesvaraiah was born on 15 September 1860 in a remote village in Karnataka.

He received his degree in Civil Engineering from Pune College of Engineering.  In 1912, after taking charge of the then Dewan of Mysore,

a great change took place in the technical and technological industry of Karnataka.

His contribution to irrigation and flood disaster management is undeniable.  In 1917,

he established the famous Government Engineering College, which is now known as University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering.

He was awarded Bharat Ratna, the country's highest civilian honor, in 1955 for his contributions to the field of engineering.
